Fishers is a fine English farmhouse, dating back to the 16th
century, and is built of mellow red brick. The house is about 400 metres from the
Roman road of Ermin Street, set in a large
garden and is surrounded by open fields with no neighbouring houses in sight. It has large rooms with oak beams, and has
all the comforts of central heating and en-suite or private bathrooms. |
There is a large sitting room which has a blazing log fire in the winter where our guests can relax with or without music which they can choose from our large selection of classical compact discs. Be warned though, that this is a television-free house. We do ask our guest not to smoke indoors.

Our 600 acre (250 hectare) farm surrounds the house. We grow wheat, oats and oilseed rape and we provide grazing for a neighbour's livestock. We will happily suggest a route for a walk, and our dog might condescend to come with you! As a centre for visiting southern England we are ideally placed. West Berkshire is a beautiful area of unspoilt countryside with the contrast of open downland and the more wooded Kennet Valley. It is an ideal place for walking, riding and cycling. We are conveniently situated for the business centres of Newbury, Swindon and Reading. Wi-fi internet connection is available on request. |

We are halfway between London and the beautiful Georgian city of Bath and both cities are an easy days outing, as are Oxford, Salisbury, Winchester and many other beautiful ancient towns. The prehistoric sites of Stonehenge and Avebury are less than an hour away, as are the Cotswolds. More locally, we are only three miles from Hungerford with its numerous specialist antique shops. Newbury is the local market town, and the charming Watermill Theatre at nearby Bagnor is only a ten minute drive from Fishers Farm. There are numerous picturesque villages in the surrounding countryside. In addition, if you are interested in the horse racing world then Newbury with its famous racecourse is only 10 miles away and Lambourn, the second largest training centre in the UK is a mere 5 miles away and it is possible to go and see future winners practising on the gallops any day providing you are willing to get up early enough.

| Mary lived for many years in Spain and has fluent Spanish and is always happy to use it. In addition she is also fluent in German and both Henry and Mary can speak French, and yes, they do both speak English and are more than happy to chat to guests and answer questions about the farm and local amenities and attractions. |
